shamikkundu at the FinEval 2026: Zero-Parameter Confidence Elicitation for Japanese Implicit Communication Recognition

Shamik Kundu

Abstract
We describe our submission to FinEval 2026 Subtask 2, Japanese Financial Implicit Com- munication Recognition (JF-ICR): a five-point ordinal classification of company responses in investor Q A, from +2 (strong commitment) to −2 (strong refusal). Our system fits no parameters: a 14B instruction model, served through OpenRouter, receives the shared task’s own annotation guideline verbatim and emits a schema-enforced confidence for each of the five labels; we take the argmax of the normalised distribution. Our submission ranked 5th, at 0.9429 accuracy on the held-out test rows.
