Our primary goal is to capture the diverse and often less frequent uses of food in historical English texts, with a particular focus on the various processes to which food is subjected and the contexts in which it is employed. We provide the annotation scheme, describe the annotation process and release the annotated dataset for food and its uses, along with some preliminary experiments assessing the capabilities of LLMs in applying this annotation scheme."
